VERNON WELLS |
Vernon’s athletic career started at age nine in Port Arthur, TX as he excelled as a Little Leaguer, always playing with kids much older than himself. He was an all-sports star at S.F. Austin H.S. and also played semi-pro baseball. He became an All-American receiver at Ranger J.C. and later played at TCU where some of his records still stand, making the All-Decade Team for the ‘70’s. He was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs and enjoyed a brief pro career in the AFL, CFL, and AFA.
Vernon began his association with the NABA in
1996 and has been a premier player ever since. He is
a perennial All-Star selection in every age classification
where he participates and has won numerous awards and
championships. Among his many accomplishments is an
amazing 44-game hitting streak spanning the 2004-2006
48+ seasons and five consecutive power hitting championships
in the annual 48+ All-Star competitions.
In recognition of the above accomplishments,
Vernon Wells is hereby inducted as a member of the 2007
